Reviews:
- 4 stars - 'Unashamedly romantic and sentimental in parts, hot and steamy in others. Now the
steaminess comes in towards the end of the book, when the romance heats up. If
you're a person who prefers sweet romance, you might like to keep that in mind.
But honestly, I wouldn't let that put me off reading a good book. I have no
hesitation at all in recommending this novel to readers of romance fiction. And
in particular, to readers of romance who love Ireland...'
- 5 stars - 'I just finished What Happens in Ireland by Whitney K.E. What a fabulous story Whitney has written! Not only does she have a way with descriptions of the beautiful land of Ireland, she has also created some charismatic characters that I had the pleasure of meeting... I loved all the beautiful scene's that Whitney described to us, I have never been to Ireland but I feel like I took a short trip there while I was reading this book. I loved the set, the characters, and the story line.'

Extracts
Extract One:
Scratching the mare’s forehead affectionately, Kate listened to Jen and Tom bicker as they tried to fix one of the work trucks. The jean-clad legs of the quarrelling pair poked out from beneath its bonnet, their voices muffled as they continued to argue.
From what Kate could tell, it was Tom’s experience against Jen’s opinion. Who was winning, wasn’t apparent.
They bickered like an old married couple. They couldn’t go two seconds without taking a dig at each other and stranger still, they seemed to enjoy it. In the space of an hour they’d debated many topics, from the exact color of Kate’s hair to how to fix the engine. Most of the arguments were hypothetical and pointless and Kate could only attribute the true motive behind their fights as playful enjoyment.
Tom stood just short of six feet tall which didn’t live up to her Irish people look a lot like leprechauns thesis and his facial features were defined enough to give him a certain appeal. He had light blue eyes, short brown hair and a medium build.
Nothing like Jack’s, she reminded herself.
Tom seemed to always wear a smile and the stubble on his jaw gave him a rough charm, but his minor imperfections were more than compensated for by his personality.
He was an amusing man, a bit of a larrikin, almost an imp. If Kate were to liken him to a celebrity, the comedian Tommy Tiernan would have been her pick. He possessed a tireless sense of humor and had an enthusiastic attitude that lightened the most mundane of situations. He seemed to be the kind of man who’d boldly volunteer to place his head inside a crocodile’s jaw just for fun.
“Ow!”
Kate held back a giggle when Tom reached down to rub his calf.
“Why did ye kick me?” his deep voice accused from beneath the bonnet.
“Have I ever provided a reason for kickin’ ye in the past?” Jen replied with a giggle.
“I suppose yer right.” A spanner hit the ground. “But did ye have to kick me that hard?”
“Oh, go wear a dress ye whingein’ ninny!” The sound of a hand hitting flesh followed Jen’s words.
“Ye just can’t keep yer hands off me, can ye?” Tom cried, the sounds of a struggle playing out.
Jen’s laughter drifted up to Kate and she smiled at the amusing pair.
The pounding of hooves catching her attention, Kate turned in search of the approaching rider. When the earth began to spin, she stopped breathing.
Holy mother of God…
A horse was trotting towards her, a man who looked as if he’d been born in the saddle astride it. The black beauty moved beneath him fluidly, its coat like velvet. The two seemed to be as one but their magnificence wasn’t the reason behind her inability to breathe.
By some terrible twist of fate, a dark knight on his regal steed had ridden into her life. And yet she could think that it only made sense that a man so downright attractive, so confident, would look so perfect astride a creature of unpredictability.
And would be the deceiver she’d thought him to be.
As the duo drew near her panic escalated. Her heart now pounded in her ears, matching the rhythmic drumming of hoofbeats.
Jack. Jack friggin’ O’Reilly!
Extract Two:
When they reached the car, Kate jumped in the second Jack opened the door for her. Sitting in the dark, she watched him walk around to the driver’s side. She almost wished he’d ditch the umbrella just so she could see those muscles slick with water once again.
They drove in silence, Kate replaying the day’s events in her mind. Instead of feeling guilty about her tiny moments of weakness, she felt a growing need to pursue them, to relive them.
Looking sideways at Jack, she took in his handsome profile. His green eyes were trained on the road and their warm glow made her remember the sensation of his gaze on her skin. His lips reminded her of the mind-blowing kisses they’d shared and his hands, resting casually on the steering wheel, made her body shiver in memory of the burning caresses they bestowed.
When the car stopped outside her cottage, she was tempted to request another lap around the houses. Unfortunately, in doing so, she’d be admitting more than she was willing to.
Turning to her, Jack smiled, the reminiscence of his desire evident in his gaze. Opening his door, he disappeared into the night, the door slamming shut behind him.
Before she could begin to search for him, her door opened and a hand appeared before her. Accepting it, she allowed Jack to pull her into the night. Her body rejoiced when he caught her. His arm around her waist, Jack guided her through the night. She barely felt the cold, nulled as it was by the warmth of his body. Breathing in his scent and memorizing his touch, Kate settled against him.
The door of her cottage loomed and she couldn’t help but feel disheartened at the thought of relinquishing her position at Jack’s side. Halting on the doormat, she stepped out of his hold. Pulling her keys from her pocket, she fiddled with them before finally getting hold of the one she sought. Her hands numb, she struggled to find the lock.
When her frustration peaked, Jack’s hand covered hers. Stilling, her breath quickened as the air around her grew thick. Gently, he guided her and the key slipped into the lock. With a twist of his wrist the lock clicked open.
Why she did what she did next she couldn’t explain. But she didn’t regret it.
The door left shut, Kate turned to face Jack. Her eyes locked on his lips and she licked her own in anticipation. Lifting her gaze to his, she knew instantly that there was no way she was going to back out of this. An inferno of passion burned in his gaze, a desire identical to hers.
Stepping forward, she rose onto her toes. Her arms slipped around his neck and she pulled his lips to hers.
The second they touched, pleasure swamped her, filling every part of her being. Jack’s hands clamped down on her hips and she was pressed against the door. A moan crawled up her throat. The umbrella fell to the ground and the cold rain began to soak them.
Jack’s tongue slid into her mouth and Kate’s wits disappeared. Wanton need took hold.
His tongue danced with hers, each intimate touch heightening her pleasure. His hands drifted over her body, caressing and taunting heated flesh, a wildfire lying in their explorative wake. When his palms slid over her hips and cupped her arse, she thrust against him.
Her hands no longer content just to caress the muscles in his shoulders, she let them wander. They found their way down his chest to the corded muscles beneath his wet shirt. Sliding them over his tense abs, Kate smiled when his erection became evident between the apex of her thighs.
Releasing her lips, Jack bent down to press lingering kisses to the base of her throat, his tongue tasting her flesh.
It was at this point in her life that Kate realized the true purpose of arms. Arms were created for one, sole purpose: to hold one’s lover up when they could no longer support themselves.
Her knees gave out and Jack caught her against him.
“Invite me in?” he asked, his breath causing goosebumps to rise on her neck.
Kate looked up at him from beneath her lashes. “Do you really need an invitation?” she purred.
